Selfies with a Cow

Jacob got a new, more comfortable halter but managed to get it off overnight. Upon discovering this situation in the morning, Henry and I chased Jake around like keystone cops trying to catch him. He was stubborn. We tried the calm, tender approach. We tried the aggressive approach. Finally I said a St. Michael prayer and Henry was, at long last, able to lasso him.
Once he had a rope around his neck Jake was a sweet, calm furball again. He let me reattach his halter, knot it, and lead him back into the barn.
In the evening we tried our new brush out on the Zebus. After being groomed a bit Rachel decided to return the favor, licking my pants, hands, sleeve, face and hair. So I did what any normal person would do. I took selfies with a cow.
The cows are learning to trust us and we are just plain learning. A handful of the lessons we have learned so far...
~ Cows pee & poop when they're nervous.
~ Cows are often nervous.
~ A cow's tongue is a lot like a giant cat tongue.
~ Crocs are not appropriate barnyard footwear.
~ You can have a sick zebu and even a sad zebu, but there's no such thing as a mute zebu.
